Builders Utilize New Construction Trends for Houses Montverde, Fla. – Eight featured custom home builders have begun construction on the 2006 Street of Dreams homes at Bella Collina,® a 1,900-acre luxury golf and equestrian community in Montverde, Fla., currently under development by Ginn Clubs & Resorts.

To complement Bella Collina’s Tuscan theme, all of the houses will be built in an Italian-Mediterranean style. Prices for the show homes start at more than $3 million. Custom home builders for the development and the Street of Dreams show include:

The Street of Dreams homes are reflecting some distinctive construction trends.

River Oaks Development Corporation has been erecting two-story tilt-walls made of poured concrete on its 10,700-square-foot home – and is one of the few custom builders in the area to use this technique. Tilt-walls – typically used in commercial buildings – are finding their way into the residential market as a high-end alternative to concrete block walls. “With the tilt-walls, we are able to cast the panels off-site, and they are erected with a crane and metal braces,” said Tracey Smith, president of River Oaks Development Corporation. “The process takes a lot less time, and the quality of the tilt-walls is amazing – it’s more weather resistant and has a lot of other benefits.” Although more expensive than typical residential walls, tilt-walls reduce noise, energy costs and are much stronger than concrete block walls. With Florida’s history of tropical storms, they make an ideal solution for homeowners who are now demanding stronger walls.

The 2006 Street of Dreams will be the 7th Street of Dreams held in the Orlando area and is slated to take place October 14 through November 26, 2006.
